THE PROCESS of working with leather and carefully hand stitching it together using the old-fashioned saddle stitch technique is incredibly rewarding. Often a new design starts with an idea, perhaps a feeling, or I see something which greatly inspires me.

Many times the design will change as I experiment with different sizes or colors. What fascinates me is how a tiny change in the design, a slight curve or a change in proportions can completely change the feel and look of a bag.

But at a certain point I find the right design, it’s like everything clicks into place. There’s this great sense of satisfaction. This applies not only to my bags, but also other designs and products I make. When the shape feels balanced and harmonious, it is not anymore about making a bag, or a lamp or any other design. It’s about creating something that feels just right, and that is a real satisfaction.

COMING SOON

THIS IS A NEW DESIGN where I combined a natural veg-tanned leather with canvas and bamboo handles. I am very happy with it and think it looks beautiful and classical, which I always like. It will develop a rich patina over time, which will make the leather look stunning.

When I create a new design, I always put it to the test to see how it really holds up. So I have given the bag to somebody special and it is currently used, day in and day out. I want to see how the leather holds up, and how the canvas reacts to the cold Danish wet weather. I am curious about little details, like the placement of the magnets to ensure the proper closure. Perhaps they need to move a few centimeters, or perhaps they are just perfectly placed. And of course, sometimes little things show up that I hadn’t even thought of.

This is my way of making sure that the bag will work for you, and that I can feel proud and confident about what I’ve made.

Will keep you posted...
